Oldtimer Grand Prix 2012 at the Nürburgring
« on: August 12, 2012, 01:40:37 PM »
2012 brought the 40th anniversary of the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the legendary Nürburgring.

The green hell is still agreat racetrack, but the OGP has definitly lost its track...

The old pit area has turned into a kitsch market, the visitor has to pay all food and drinks with a nonsense electronic payment system and the overall quality of the international participants has decreased over the past decade in my eyes.

Don´t get me wrong - it is still a pleasure to visit the ring, but the increasing talmi all around, not to speak of the monstrous Ringwerk fun fair project brought me to the decision not to join this event next year - maybe the whole project is bankrupt next year anyway...:

I´m a big guy (1,92cm) and I often just raise my Canon to an approximate height of 2,4 m with my natural born right arm. :D

Often this perspective deletes most of the disturbing surrounding objects I do not want to show.

I like to try extreme view angles to make my photos look different from those of the thousand other visitors around.

That´s always a challenge, but I like to go for it...

All that ridiculous bling-bling and that desastrous price policy loomed already last year. I can tell from your impressions that it even went worse..

Great pics anyway!

The regular day ticket for sunday was 38 EUR which is far too much, given the qualitity of the event.
I only went there, because Motor-Klassik magazine has included a 50%-off voucher...

You're taller than me with my 188  :D
Do you have a screen or what? My pics on a raised hand usually contain things completely different from what I wanted to depict :P Still, to make some difference I always try to shoot as many details as possible - just some winglets, bolts, badges, several plans etc. Still, my own photographic abilities are not great, to be honest :P I'm still to learn many basics.

Just carry on and don´t take it too seriously.
I just want to have fun during those events and it´s kind of learning by doing really.
