The location: Cokery Zollverein part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage "Zollverein" in Essen.
During summer it takes place every month on the first sunday.

I knew that area before, but was on that meeting for the first time. I was amazed of its great success. It's a quaint location with all that old tubes, smokestacks, brick houses and old mashines and a nice background for this event..

Real rarities were hard to find, but I liked those which I've photographed.

Let's wait for the next time...

The cars

Part I:

A rare find: an X 1/9 in mint condition!

The TVR "Vixen" — not an appropriate name for the German market...

In great condition: the Fiat 850 spyder

A whole family with three kids arrived with the Fiat 500 Giardiniera.

One of two Bitter CDs. A beautiful car with great finish!

Part III:

The Lloyd 400 next is small, but the Kleinschnittger is really tiny.

For me the most beautiful car of the event: the Maserati Indy

With glass back for easy parking: the Maserati Khamsin

Part IV:

Maybe not that spectacular, but to find an Opel Rekord D Coupé in such excellent condition is almost impossible today.

Wow.  Such great quality in the cars and pictures.  Some more sedate cars that we don't usually see Stateside such as Opel (though the Bitter was a treat!) and older Audi (AutoUnion).

We use to have a Opel Kadett Wagon, very rare in North Indiana.  Most people were like  :hah:  I remember jumping back and forth between the seats, and knocking the gear lever into neutral.  My dad hadn't set the brake. And slowly the car began to move.  My sister's eyes and mine grew larger the more scared we became as we rolled backwards down drive into a huge rock.

Lovely Renault Alpine and X/19.  Just too many favorites to list.... and that's a good thing :)

Thank you! :)

First week of August I'm going to visit the 'Schloss Dyck Classic Days' festival.

On that event I surely will need some extra batteries for my camera...
And for sure there will be not only sedate cars to admire.

Stay tuned...

How do you say it in English? "to bite off more than one can chew"?
I really wanted to go to Schloss Dyck, but my girlfriend forced me to spend some days at the sea with her – a  decision I deeply regret today...

I am having some lady friend woes of late.  Sounds like I am not alone.

Yes, it's not so funny these days...

Next week on Wednesday or Thursday I'll be the whole day at the IAA in Frankfurt. (that's I hope for sure!)
Hope the camera won't get broken before...

Utterly fascinating. All those cars look like they just arrived fresh from the factory showroom. How absoutely remarkable!    :o

The weather wasn't perfect and I was too lazy to get up early enough, so, there wasn't much going on as I arrived,
but some event will follow..

I never knew this conversion existed.

This was the Kadett we had, save for the coupe body style.  Same year and color otherwise.  I'm going to send this thread to my dad.  It will make him cry either from laughter or humiliation.   Just imagine the damage done to my brother and sister being driven around in this.....ahahaha!!! Thank you for the great memories.

This A-Kadett conversion is obviousely the only survivor of three cabriolets "Carrozzeria" Welsch had made. It's not that well ballanced, but nice to look at in its perfect condition.
The B-Kadett was the car for everyone in my childhood. For those who didn't drive a Käfer. (Beetle)
