I doubt there is an person who might see this thread, who hasn't experienced that sinking feeling, while in the midst of a mildly or blatantly illegal moving violation, you've spotted John Law, who clearly has your number.

Here in the safety of AutoPuzzles, we have the opportunity to get a good look at their steeds. In the US, Police cars evolved, over time, into high-horsepower cars that were short on creature comforts, but loaded with go-fast bits. But this thread is not just for US examples. The only rules here:

  • Photos must be from before 1980.
  • Police cars and paddy wagons only - no ambulances, taxis, etc.

Enjoy, and please, share some of your own!

An assortment of German police cars:
A Mercedes-Benz 220 OTP, this bodywork only done for the police;
a Volkswagen Cabriolet with a big speedometer at its back for promoting the new "50 km/h in town" rule;
a Peugeot 404 as German police car in Saarbrücken;
a VW-Porsche ("Vopo") as West German Autobahn police car;
Volgas and Wartburgs as East German Volkspolizei (a different kind of "Vopo").

Another not so common one.

Ford 1939 Police truck in Jugoslavia.  Commonly know as a "Raid
Car".  The trucks were used to put down riots and/or round up various religious or ethnic group folk.
