Two words, one starts with a letter between A and M.
I am operating under the assumption this means that only one of the two words begins with a letter between A and M (the other beginning with a letter between N and Z). Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

One more hint: the two names are Christian name and surname of the builder.
Was the builder ever involved in the design or manufacture of vehicles for a more well-known brand (either before or after building the puzzle car)?

Yes, one name starting with a letter from one half of the alphabet, the other name with a letter from the other half.

As far as I can tell, the builder always worked for his own company.

Yes, finally! Locked for you to name the model (which has real name, not just a CV or HP classification).

This was the basis of my assumption. Is that a model name there?

Yes, this model was called La Plus Simple. One more point for you.
