Yeah, I grew up around lots of these when I was a kid. I think we can say with confidence that it is a 1950 Ford Stepvan. As to the body purpose or builder, I haven't found that yet... ;-)

This: A special Ford-based Tour Wagon was built in 1951 for Prince Makonnen, the son of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie.
