I don't know of a Porsche V-2 and your dates are different. But there is a connection to Porsche.

Locked for hermanoto. Yes, you are right, the puzzle car belongs to a small series of VW test vehicles built by Daimler-Benz in Sindelfingen. There is a bit of confusion in your description, please put it in a coherent order.

It is a convertible prototype for the KDF-Wagen developped by Ferdinand Porsche, registration plate: IIIA-37022, see att.

The saloon cars were named V-1 ("Versuchwagen"), the cabriolet V-2. The first V-2 was built at Porsche's home in Stuttgart and was ready in december 1935. Later on the V-2 became an headlight upgrade. The headlights moved from the center of the car into the fenders. This was executed around 1937.

In 1937 a serie of 30 SALOON cars, the W-30, were produced at Daimler-Benz in Sindelfingen. NOT mentioned is that also a convertible was produced.

Because of this I think the pictured convertible was also built and /or upgraded at Porsche`s.

There are indeed sources that assume that the VW 30 series from Daimler-Benz also included a cabriolet. The existing photos also give the impression that the distance between the door and the rear wing is greater in the puzzle cabriolet than in the V2 prototype.
We will probably not be able to finally clarify this here, so here is the next point for you, hermanoto.

The pictured convertible is a W30 as it was built on the chassis #22 of the W30 series. The body however was the body of the V2 but modernized and altered at the front half.
