OK, so it's not North or South America, Asia, Africa or Australia, so that rules out all the continents except Europe.
It doesn't look like a European scene so it must be an island; in the Caribbean?

In 1936-1937 three racing cars were built by Eduardo Ferreirinha and were known as 'Ford Especial V8's '. Later a road version was built known as the 'EDFOR' There were another four of these. All cars were built in Porto. The first car to race after WW2 was in 1947 so I am assuming that the driver of the car in the picture is Augusto Madureira.

This puzzle is presently locked for D-type. I'm afraid anything you post on here can only assist him in his endeavours.

Sadly for both of you, this is nothing to do with those cars. Nor is the builder De Souza.

It looks late 40s or early 50s and seems to have a USA chassis, perhaps a Chev Fleetline sedan or something similar. But what is a puzzle is the lump to the side of the bonnet, which suggests some sort of side-draft carb setup. That would probably exclude side-valve Americana, so the Chev engine or Buick or Nash are all possibilities.

Or I'm way off the mark, which is indeed an even better possibility.

We already know that it's Ford flathead-powered. I can't tell you any more about any modifications to the engine.

I ill have to check this later. In my notes I have written two names - one is (I imagine) fairly common, although it's not Fernandez. The other is aristocratic, and I think that's the driver.

I have now had a chance to check as many internet sources as I can find. I am not sure now that the driver was actually the builder - my apologies if I have mislead anyone. All I need is the name of the driver, which is the aristocratic title I previously referred to.
