The fact that you only asked for marque and year makes me think it's NOT one of the marques that would later form part of BMC. Is that supposition correct?

Well I wouldn't have found it anyway, because Calthorpe was missing from the list of Brummie manufacturers I was looking at.  :P

Definitely Birmingham. Bordesley Green. Max gets the point, I'm afraid, after all your hard work. The fact that you use the title Brummie suggests to me that you are not of Iberian extraction!

Many of Britain's light car makers seem to have entered major races like the Coupe de l'Auto  in those pre-WW1 times, usually to no avail. Presumably they were trying to raise brand awareness and vainly hoping for some sort of result that they could advertise.

I am Spanish, in fact, but I studied at Coventry University for four years, so I'm well acquainted with the local culture. I was even told by a friend from Nottingham that I still spoke English with a Brummie accent for a while after I left!  ;D

Oh, and absolutely no worries about the point, of course, this is all about passing the time and learning.

That explains it! Like one or two of our other members who also don't live in the UK, your written English is so fluent and idiomatic that it doesn't seem like a second language to me.
I'd be hopeless, even in the other language I know best, which makes me thankful that you and the many others join in to make this a truly international site.
