This reminds me of an Alvis (Mr Dunham ?) I saw many years ago.  I presume it's a UK car because the kerbs have a 'Douglas' look about them....

Well spotted. It is indeed Gerry Dunham's Alvis Special which was a well-known sight in UK national racing at the time. Manx Cup 14/6/51 1st place. I have searched the internet for details of the base car but all I can find is the engine size - 1842cc.

The Dunham Alvis special was raced in VSCC events by family members well into the post-war period and I think it's still in family hands.
I believe it was based on an Alvis Speed 20 of 1932 with 12/70 engine from 1938
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

I remember seeing it in the Wakefield Trophy  at the Curragh in 195?
I was a VERY small boy at the time....
