This project is not mentioned. But with this brand Vignale cooperated.
For clarification, was the design shown the puzzle image created by Centro Stile, or was it the work of an outside firm?

Are you saying is was done in-house (by Alfa's Centro Stile design center)?

Mazda?
I'll elaborate:

It has long been rumored that the Bertone/Giugiaro design for Mazda's Luce 1000/1500 (first shown at the 1963 Tokyo Motor Show) was originally presented to Alfa Romeo as a design proposal for what would eventually become the 1750/2000 Berlina. Alfa rejected that design and so Bertone then pitched it to Mazda.

A few years later, Bertone supposedly pitched a Gandini-penned design (Giugiaro had left by then) to Mazda for the Familia sedans. This time, Mazda is said to have rejected the Bertone design, which Bertone then pitched to Alfa Romeo, becoming the Alfetta sedan.

Getting back to the puzzle image, is it your understanding that this is either the Bertone/Giugiaro design proposal that was reportedly rejected by Alfa Romeo (then sold to Mazda), or the Bertone/Gandini design that was rejected by Mazda (then sold to Alfa Romeo)?

For comparison, here is the puzzle image along with some of Bertone's original designs for the Mazda Luce (penned by Giugiaro). There are similarities, but there are also many differences.

Do not search for Mazda connection there.

Any connection to Pininfarina's Triumph SD2 proposal?

milos62

The form is there. But in this case Triumph it is not.
