MG-based ?
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the mechanical basis for this car. All I know is:
  • What is was called;
  • Who built and drove it;
  • Where it was built;
  • The date, location, and name of the event in which is was photographed; and
  • The displacement class in which it competed at this event.
The year and displacement class do not rule out the possibility of an MG engine.

I think this could be Bill Wylie's Mistral Special which was built and raced in Malaysia with a Buckler chassis, Microplas Mistral body and a TR2 engine. He sold the car to a Mr. M I Rouf in Sri Lanka.

Maybe Rouf fitted an MG engine.

That's the car! Known to me only as the Rauf Special of Mike Rauf.

Looks pretty much the same to me. It's possible nothing was changed but the name.

Rauf :doh:

My source was incorrect. Rauf is a fairly common family name in South Asia.
