Singer 9 Roadster, mid-restoration. (Car in the background looks like a North American market 9 Roadster.) Singer Owners Club display at NEC Classic?

[Edit: Just curious--is this 1951 Singer 9 4AB 'OWA 5' (now restored)?]

It is a Singer but isn't described as a 9 Roadster.

Locked for the correct chassis type.

No it isn't restored as the picture was only taken on the 9th November (Unless they were very quick at rebuilding it!)

There were several series of 9 Roadsters (including 4A, 4AB, 4AC), but if 9's not in the title, then let's go with the 1951-55 Singer 'SM Roadster' (aka the 'SM 1500', aka 'Series 4AD')?

4AD is close enough.

The actual description is:

1953 4ADT Roadster Chassis

The car was one of a batch of 8 Roadsters dispatched to Fisher and Simmons, South Africa on 28 December 1953, possibly shipped out at the end of the year to get the numbers up! The car was originally Coronation Blue with Grey trim.

Little is know of its time in South Africa but at some point it was completely dismantled and it returned to the the UK in September 1990 in bits.

The car was complete except for the radiator surround and slats having disappeared, and also the inlet manifold had vanished! Accident damage was obvious at the rear with the boot lid being in a bad way but not so obvious was chassis damage at the front.

The chassis has been restored for the show by a small group of SOC members normally involved in the supply of Roadster spares.

The Ash frame was manufactured by a club member who can make components to order.
