For a point, what is this called, who built it, and what is its mechanical base please?

British 1950s homebuilt? I don't recognise that front suspension - I think it's also a 'bitsa'.

It's a British 'bitsa', but not from the 1950s.

1960's Lorraine Special Triumph TR2-3 based with ali body and resembled a Lotus 7 in steroids.

Post copied from the new owner (since 2004)
"I attached a couple of the best photos I have of the beast. It has been robbed of the TR engine and box, the owner 2 before me scrapped the whole, rather beautiful alloy rear tail section and the remains is in a sorry state. On the plus side it was well made when first constructed with lovely delicate tubular wishbones and inboard rearbraked with de Dion tube. All Ali body missing the rear end and front wings now sadly but still very saveable and worthwhile (in my opinion)"

Well done, you've clearly found the machine and managed to answer two of the three questions that I originally asked (car name - Lorraine MK 3, and base - a Triumph TR3), which is close enough to earn you two Black Hole points as this car (built between 1960-62) has been here long enough.

However, the final key outstanding question remains - who built this car? - so I will leave it here and open it up to all to finish off the Puzzle for one extra point. Good luck.

David Ashworth?
Yes, that’s the name of this car’s builder, so an extra point to Wendax to now complete this old Puzzle. Well done both.
