Ok, let's start with the basics - it's a British kitcar from the 50s?
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Built by Albert Ludgate who was the designer/engineer for Lea Francis. When that company stopped production, he moved to South Australia, where he built sports cars like the Capricornia. As to the engine, chassis config, etc., I can only guess.

CAPRICORNIA (AUS) 1957-1959
Ludgate Automotive Developments, Adelaide, South Australia

When Lea-Francis Cars withdrew from production in 1953, its Chief Engineer, Albert Ludgate, joined the Adelaide firm of J.A. Lawton & Sons. However, his enthusiasm for performance cars and a contact with a former Queenslander persuaded him to design and build a duplex tube chassis frame, to accept Holden components for a sports car. Its wheelbase was 91in (2311cm) and it weighed 713kg. Taking its name from the Tropic of Capricorn region, the first of the series was fitted with an English RGS fibreglass body. Other bodies were fitted; one with a Buchanan body and a Repco Highpower cylinder head enjoyed a long and successful competition career, later under the name Ricardian. Capricornia Junior go-karts and T.Q. midget racing cars were also constructed.

It could be an RGS bodyshell but it would be a long way from home.

Yes. This is Capricornia 1, the first car produced. I don't know which GRP body this is - later cars had a Buchanan shell and a recent post by another AP member had a Jarvie body.

Merged!
The body fitted to the early Capricornia was indeed an RGS Atalanta body, as originally guessed by Johno.
