Experimental 2-stroke engine with exhaust valve displayed in Fahrzeugmuseum Suhl, so probably made by Simson.

Yes, you 've got it! Dipl.-Ing. K.-H. Walther from Suhl tried to combine the advantages of 2-stroke and 4-stroke methods. He used rotary inlet valves and outlet valve. Congratulations on this work and one more point for you.

Here some explanations about this unique construction:
There is still one work match per Crankshaft rotation. Through the use of inlet rotary slide valve and outlet valve asymmetrical control times become possible. Thus less flushing losses and thus lower fuel consumption was expected also lower pollutant emissions and higher torque. Now, however, it was anything but the simple construction "with just two moving parts". And so it remained in the experimental department.
This was today's training "Fundamentals of the internal combustion engine", thank you very much for your attention ;)

Hi fromwien, don't mention it. That we can make each other smarter, that's the beauty of our forum.
