Sure, there were 4-banger Mustangs, but....
« on: March 20, 2008, 04:53:22 AM »
...a 4-pot Camaro?

OK, so there was a 4-cylinder Camaro in the bad old early 1980's. My bad...

An article in Automotive News suggests a version of the revived bowtie pony car will offer the 260 HP turbocharged Ecotec used in the HHR/SS, as well as Saturn's Sky Redline and Pontiac Solstice GXP (of which my next-door neighbor has one, purchased with his buyout from Ford last year - sweet car!)

This engine might shed some weight from the new-age Camaro, but with the turbo plumbing and extra cooling, not too much...

So, what say you - is this potential development a good thing or a bad thing?

If they sell cars and make money with it, it is a good thing.  Otherwise......   :(

The design of the new Camaro will have more effect on poor sales than a turbo 4 option.  I think most people into tuning know that a good bit more power than 260 is available from an ecotech, so even with the added weight of the extra plumbing performance would be very good....depending on how heavy the Camaro is.
