Ford has announced a mighty new V-6 engine (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-21840-Providence-Automotive-Examiner~y2009m11d30-Bigger-horses-for-Fords-pony-car) for its pony car. Its beginning to feel a lot like the fable "Horsepower Race" era of the 60's. Not that there is anything wrong with that. ;D

Last week, I was eying a Challenger demo sitting at the dealership near my house. I'd really like to have a new car. But in this economy, I'm going to keep walking the cheap walk.
I'm glad there are 3 decent pony cars on the market again. The Mustang (in spite of the iron log rear axle) seems to be closest to the right setup (light and cheap) and the old playbook: low base price, highly configurable, and if you've got the dough, lots of go!
The Dodge and the Chevy do have it beat in the looks department.

Well, that's why they make chocolate, vanilla AND strawberry. I really like the looks of the Mustang, especially in GT or Shelby trim.
40 years ago I had a 4.2 liter straight six that made 300 hp. Bet it weighed twice what this engine weighs, though. :-\
