The Hungarian Royal State Railway Engine Works (MÁVAG)  has built in the late 20's several bus and truck underframes by Mercedes-Benz licence. The german company has forbidden to build cars on the L1000 chassis, but  later they nevertheless assigned to build one prototype. This car is what you can see on the picture: the only MÁVAG-Mercedes car ever built.

I would not recommend this book as it is full of false and misleading information. Having been researching this topic for 17 years now in international libraries, archives and collections I can safely say, that this book is a very bad joke.

I understand from your nickname that you were born in Hungary in November '73, according to your profile on the Beaulieu (BTW another Autopuzzler at least is there....), so your knowledge is out of any doubt...which book will you suggest for the incredible world of the Hungarian cars?

The 2nd edition of "Magyar Autó" will be out in a couple weeks' time. Together with a few comrades we have seriously updated both the text and the photos.

And this afternoon, after a lot of persuasion, the publisher gave in: there will be an English-language summary at the end of the book! I have two days to compile it :)

I bought the book for some 1.5 Euros in a subway store as a curiosity. But it's sure, that the Magyar Autó, written by István Zsuppán is more authentic source...
It's a great news, that you will publish the second edition of this book; i will wait before the Bookshop to get it! ;)
