Bentley: 50 Years of the marque
« on: October 24, 2011, 04:08:36 PM »
Bentley: Fifty Years of the Marque, by Johnnie Green, First edition 1969, second edition 1974, Third Edition 2003 Hardbound.
When originally published back in 1969, this book instantly became the standard pictorial reference work on the Bentley marque—and has remained so ever since, through two reprints and three editions, all which contradict each other on occasion. Let's say that much further information has come to light about the featured cars.
If the original could be criticized in any way at all, it was that by covering fifty years worth of production, from three different factories, ranging from the two-wheel-braked three-liter of 1919 to the independently-sprung monocoque T-series of 1969, the author was, perhaps, spreading himself too thin.

The 2003 edition had completely revised captions.  Dalton Watson commissioned three leading Bentley experts to completely rewrite the captions and substantially recompile the index. Hundreds of alterations have been made compared to earlier editions.
All editions in lots of price ranges, last edition still available new from the publishers.
