Guide de l'Automobile Française
« on: October 25, 2009, 06:52:21 AM »
Written by Jacques Rousseau in cooperation with Jean-Paul Rousseau
Photos by Jean-Paul Caron
Copyright: Solar, 1988
ISBN 226302042X
Hardbound, 594 pages, b&w and color illustrations.

The best thing about this book, which is a nice introduction to the French auto industry is a very cool list at the end which list all (well, almost all :) ) locally built cars from the beginning 'til the late-1980s.

The first 100-pages deal with the history of automobile in general and in France. Naturally, Delamare-Deboutteville is mentioned as the first 'proper' automobile with an internal combustion engine - this is quite understandable as the book is French :)
Elsewhere there are photos and story on all the major French carmakers and photos and technical data on some of their models. It is in alphabetical order and it is peppered with details on lesser known cars.
All in all it is a quite nice introduction to the French auto industry.
