Magyar Auto (Hungarian car) by István Zsuppán was first published in 1995. It was the first book devoted exclusively to the history of the Hungarian auto industry, including not just passenger cars, but trucks and buses as well.
Now the 2nd edition is out in a much, much improved format.
First chapter covers those who came before the internal-combustion era plus János Csonka, the pioneer automobile designer in Hungary
2nd chapter deals with the first Hungarian companies, Podvinecz-Heisler, Rába, Röck et. al. and a separate section covers those individuals who tried to make cars, like János Adorján, Ferenc Dedics, József Bory etc.
3rd chapter is for companies who built cars and trucks between 1918-1948: MÁG, MÁVAG, Méray, Rába, Manfréd Weiss etc.
Again a separate section covers home-made one-offs from Andor Hajdú, Mihály Székely etc.
4th chapter covers the COMECON erar from 1948 through 1989 with Csepel and Ikarus in one section and home-made thingies in another
5th chapter covers the modern era.
Though last-minute efforts to include English-language captions failed, but there's an English-language summary at the end, plus useful indexes.
