Dear Friends,

the more detailed and updated edition of my

Dictionary of World Coachbuilders and Car Stylists,

first published as a book in 2003, will be available in March 2014 in CD ROM form.

This reference work lists all of the well known and numerous not-so-well known car coachbuilders and stylists in the world. 3174 car coachbuilding companies and design centers, and 1161 car stylists and related personalities from the end of the 19th century to the present that the book covered are increased on the CD to almost 4100 and 1800 respectively.

The Dictionary contains 300 large pages of text in English (Microsoft Office Word 2007; you can print your own book, the wrapper in high resolution is among enclosed pictures) and, as a free bonus for you, about 4000 photos. Please note that these photos are for your own study purposes only and it is not allowed to send them to the third parties.

The Dictionary CD ROM is priced EUR 30.00 / GBP 25.00 / USD 40.00 inclusive postage (registered letter, surface mail).

After receiving your order (with your full postal address) I´ll inform you on exact date of delivery.
"

I can help you arranging a copy.

P.S. Woodinsight: I did not forget your free copy!

Ok, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'd rather have the 'tangible' version of it, nothing fancy, just a 'real' book!

Can, to get an impression of this dictionary, one or more sample pages be posted here?

I just finished ot give a look at the new edition.
The amount of names, brands, cars and data is really impressive and also the directory of pictures that's enclosed with the CD is good.
Having it on a digital support also makes any research much much easier.
The step ahead compared with the first edition is indeed big.

However, I've some concern.

Provided that I mainly focused on Italian coachbuilders (not having the knowledge to evaluate the others) and that I fully understand how difficult is to handle a so huge research, I've to say that there is a certain amount of confusion, misspelling and mixup.
For instance, an important source (even if not mentioned) looks to be the September 2000 issue of "La Manovella", featuring a wide coverage of Milan-based automotive companies (any kind of them, not only coachbuildes). However, due perhaps to an approximate comprehension of Italian language, some companies have been included even if they never made car-bodies, but were just producers of accessoreis, dealers or sales representatives.

Another point I don't like is how years are indicated: it's not clear if when there is e.g. "1920-1930" it's just an extimation or if it is somehow proven to be the real period of activity of the company.

Thank you, but I was referring to replies #2 and #5: is there a way to obtain a printed version and are there some sample pages to view?
