Another of my books that will not help solve any Autopuzzles but will appeal to any enthusiast of racing/old/fast cars.

"These cars only achieve their true beauty being driven near the limit of their potential." Nick Mason

This book is fantastic, it features track tests of cars owned by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. From a 1901 Panhard B1 to a 1990 Porsche 962 via Bugatti T35B, Alfa 8C 2300, ERA, BRM V16, Maserati 250F, Jaguar D Type, Ferrari 250 GTO, Tyrrell 011, plus lots more.

It gives a drivers view of these cars, detailing the whole experience of driving these cars on the limit.

The foreword of the book explains the philosophy behind it... "(Three objectives) To sit the reader in the seat of 21 cars spanning a century of motor sport, how the cars were discovered and acquired and what they were like to own and drive...to see how the performance of these cars compared with modern machinery with performance tests....And third, we wanted to have a good time. We did and we hope it shows.

The BRM lived up to its reputation and would only work properly for half a lap.

The book also comes with a CD of the cars in action "(Suggested volume setting = loud.)"

Sweet idea for and execution of a book.  This one I might just have to buy.
"Honi soit qui mal y pense"

I've got this book recently. Great read and great idea with the CD. Only drawback are some photos...

Does anyone know the difference between "Into the Red" and "Passion for Speed"? Is it just extended edition (not 21 but 24 cars with Ferrari Enzo and Alfa Romeo TZ)?
