Wolfgang Melenk, Frank Roenicke - Meister des Sports. Der Automobilrennsport in der DDR, 2004.
ISBN 3-613-02441-1
Pages: 191
Language: German
My rating: 5

The very new book for me - it has arrived just today. Highly recommended to everyone interested in motorsport rarities. On slightly more than 190 pages of this book you will find brief descriptions of a big number of East German racing and sports specials from forties to eighties, and from tiny 500cc F3 cars to never realised F1 projects. It also contains the very brief results of many championships held up in DDR (first three places for each year) and brief technical specifications of many featured cars. Most cars are pictured. The quality of print is high, the book is in a hardbound. And it is not expensive at all.

Well as a design - guy I have to admit that the overall layout of the book might be more attractive.

So I can give only 4 out of 5 possible stars - but I would like to tell you that it is a very good book leaving this aspect out. ;)

I just got my copy. I now have a book on Polish special racing cars, another on ex-East German racing cars, yet another on Czechoslovak racing cars, a booklet on Austrian specials, something on Romanian autosport - I am trying to cover "my" region.
I can't comment on the layout, but I find this book introgiuing and well-researched
