Rolls-Royce The Elegance Continues
« on: October 24, 2011, 03:24:40 PM »
Lawrence Dalton continues his account of the Coachbuilders who exercised their Craft on the Rolls-Royce Chassis and covers the Models Silver Wraith to Corniche. He breaks the book down into Chapters depicting the principle Coachbuilders, most if not all whos experience in this field pre-dates the Motor Car, by several generations & being evident in the fine horse drawn carraiges of the Nobility & Wealthy of a bygone age. Thus chapter headings are: Freestone & Webb, Hooper, H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward. James Young, and others. 264pp and an abundance of photos compliment the records that list special features, combining Job Nos, Design with Chassis Number. First out in 1971, and some reprits, which few changes, so it basically stops in 1971. THe records are not without faults. Not as common as the prewar book, but still around in huge numbers.

Dalton Watson were responsible for some of the best, highly illustrated motoring books of the 1970s such as Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin & Lagonda, Dream Cars, Private Motor Car Collections of Great Britain and the reviewed Hispano-Suiza book, etc.
Your reviews have persuaded me that I need to acquire the Bentley and Rolls titles now!
