I realized that almost all of us collect a big amount of books, magazines, etc.
Other members may be interested in these books, and we can provide pictures, reviews and suggestions.
We can create a must-to-have list of books for the car-lover collector.
In this topic we can post info on a book we find interesting, or ask for suggestions for the best book to buy on a specific topic.
Your idea?

Great idea!

I don't have many, but would be glad to contribute.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

I have very few but I will work on getting some reviews for them into the mix.

A very good idea. I don't have many books, but when it is possible I try to purchase some true gems. Yesterday I've received 'Ceskoslovenske Formule' covering nearly all Chechoslovakian single seaters through 1935-1989. Great piece of automotive information and recommended for those who are interested. It's also not expensive at all.

One I bought for my Dad a few years ago:
Classic American Convertibles

...though, I don't have any author or publisher info with me right now....

I have a few, too, but mostly related to Chevy.....

Gentlemen,

I have created an Automotive Book Review Section.  I did it so that then you guys could put all of these up as separate threads.  That would make it much easier to index them and use them as links to book reviews off of the main page.

Thanks again for all you contribute here.

I suggest to subdevide this new book thread in different categories like: encyclopedias, technical stuff, illustrated books, make related...etc. ;)

Amazing! Yesterday 've found "La Sport e i suoi artigiani" in a bookstoe here in Warsaw :D Just what the heck is such a book (not to mention it's in italian) doing in the store here is beyond my powers of understanding :P

If it wasn't for the price, I would've bought it right away. Unfortunately I have other, more pressing issues, so spending my three day earnings on a book is out of question.
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Seriously, as the reviews come pouring in we will be able to index the threads in just such a manner now that I have created a board for each book's review to be posted in.

BTW:

5 quality book reviews, w/photos of book cover as a minimum will qualify the contributor as a Feature Writer.

:grad:

Folks, do you think you could make each review a stand alone thread?

???

That wasn't exactly what I had in mind, Charlie. Besides many of the books I am speaking of must be out of print. So I understand my piece can hardly qualify as a book review. But you can put it in the Feature Articles section if you like.

As I said, if your goal is to have here a kind of encyclopedia of automotive book reviews, my post or Neilshouse's may get in the way and I understand.  Mine was rather to tease the curiosity of puzzlers, draw them towards books that may not necessarily help them to solve puzzles. If so, no worry:  move my post to the Featured Articles, and I will add some other books and flesh to it later .

I totally agree with Ray regarding my 'a few good books' post, if it makes the book review section look untidy please move it to wherever you think fit.  The books I featured, like Ray's, are just a few books that I like and most would have no use whatsoever in helping to solve puzzles.

Gentlemen, I appreciate the contributions and the explanations, really I do.   Thanks.   :)      The reason I created this section is because the books don't have to help solve puzzles.  This is the "Automotive Book Review" section.  Not the "Automotive Book Review That Can Help Solve Puzzles" section.   Any automotive book review put up here is worthy of its own entry.   Only then can they be cataloged or organized or used in any organized format whatsoever at some future date as they start to accumulate and become an AutoPuzzles draw unto themselves.

I'm too lazy to write a review of all the books I own, but in the pictures below, you'll get an impression of the biggest and IMO most interesting part of my car library (although some of these books are crap as well).
If you want a (small) review of one of these books, just ask and I will write something about it.
No need to point out my field of interest is, I think!

Although a lot of books are still missing in my library, I'm already happy with what I collected the last couple of years.  In the coming years I hope that my book collection will grow further and that it can close the gap with the really impressive libraries some of you guys must own!

I wrote a number of book reviews a while back in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek format (to wit: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=3766), I could expand on them slightly and add a picture of the book cover easily enough. Question for the smarties: Would it be easier for me to move the threads into this section (can I even do that?), or just make new ones?

You upgrade them and I will move them.  Let me know when you are ready.
