This engine was intended for the Barkas, an example of which is in the museum in Frankenberg. I have not found the exact type designation of the engine.

Not intended for the Barkas as far as I know.
Yes, the picture was taken in the Frankenberg museum.

Developed at the WTZ (Wissenschaftlich-Technisches Zentrum) in Chemnitz in the years 1963 to 1967 it had a displacement of 550 cc and an output of 39.5 hp.
