No interest from the Rookies.  Can the Experts do better?

Certainly not Chinese, the text on the front of the bus is Japanese! 中のり車 is Japanese, not Chinese. The Search string with the Japanese characters however doesn't provide any appropriate results regarding the subject of this puzzle. The license plate is the second evidence of this bus' Japanese origin. The city mentioned on the top of the license plate however is not legible.

"Chinese" is a British-ism for a truck with four steered front wheels.  Usually called a "Chinese Six" because it has single rear wheels.

Thanks for that clarification, never heard of that. Learned something!

That is why I said "Chinese layout" and put it inside quotation marks.  I'm sorry if it confused you.

Nothing to be sorry for and also no confusion.  I learned something and that's one of the reasons to be on this interesting puzzles website  :drive:

On a different note, I suppose the answer is correct?

Mitsubishi Fuso MR430
Sorry I missed this.  Mitsubishi is correct but it's not an MR430, it's MR[another number]

Locked for you

Thanks for the lock. That's a bit odd. A Japanese website reporting about the full restoration of the exact bus of the puzzle photo (even the original license plate registration of Asahi 旭 2 い 1 -28 remains, although the registered city is now changed to Asahikawa 旭川 and the vehicle type registration change from "2" into "230" as well as the "i" い changed into an "a" あ) states it to be a MR430. One of the enclosed photos of the restored vehicle also includes the type-number in the top section above the driver.

One more photo of the restored bus, but now with the license plate for which quite some effort was taken to get the original lay-out. Again the Mitsubishi Fuso type-number on top of the body.

1001 apologies.  I can't read!  I misread my source as MR30 - perhaps i need new glasses.

Thanks for posting this puzzle. Learned something. Was completely unaware of this vehicle and the "Chinese lay-out".

I'm sorry I wasted your time with my wrong answer.
Please dont ask why they call this layout a "Chinese six" as I have absolutely no idea.
