Not a flicker of interest from the rookies so it's up to the Experts.  But from the experts I expect a bit more.  As well as the Make and Formula I'd like the Model Designation and Year.  Driver and race would be nice, but I can't award a second point.

As I said, when I moved the puzzle up to the Experts, I expect more from the Experts than from the Rookies.
Point awarded.
I'll leave it here for now to see if anyone can provide the venue and the driver? (I have a reason for asking for the driver's correct name.)

Yes,..you're quite correct; I didn't bother to read your comment about further information :hail:  Thanks for the point, and I am now morally obliged to try and find the remaining details.......... :nerves:

Regarding the driver's name, I think it was Max JEAN. The French formal habit of placing the surname before the "prénom" may have led to his car being labelled "Jean MAX".  I am still trying to find the actual race (without having to buy the GRAC book!). ;D

The photo was taken at the Pau Coup de Vitesse in 1969, I think this was a supporting race to the Formula 2 Pau Grand Prix
The driver was Max JEAN.  As you said, due to confusion on an early entry, he was often wrongly called Jean MAX; the name on the car confirms it should be Max jean.

Interesting!  The name thing reminds me of anecdotes about Robert Waddy's hillclimb special which was named "Fuzzi".  Apart from being famous in its own right, it was frequently referred to as "Fuzzi's Widdi", or "Wazzi's Fuddy", etc.  Happily, "Fuzzi" has survived, so hopefully it will be seen again some time

I think it's a re-creation or extensive restoration as the original Fuzzi was developed into a V8 engined car that DSJ described as "a complicated contraption that defeated itself by its complexity"
