Leonardo da Vinci, this is apparently the first car in the world, self-propelled by means of  springs, normally used for big clocks for churches, because no other "engine" was available at that time. Some say it is a fake, they found drawings, but it is not sure whether these are real - this "car" is exposed in a museum in Italy

Yes, although the pictured vehicle - one of several replicas - can be seen at Château du Clos Lucé in Amboise, France, where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life.
