You're right!
It's the Edwards R-26 Roadster:

according to my source ,san Francisco industrialist Sterling H. Edwards built the car with the help of race-car builder Norman Timbs, mostly to prove America could create a race car as successful as the Europeans. The R-26 was crafted from aluninnum over a tube frame and powered by a ford V8-60 engine?

Everything you say is correct, but Edwards and Timbs didn't build the car by theirselves, it has been  built by.....?

Beautiful car, said to have been inspired by European sports cars of the period, perhaps Spohn Veritas cars.
Built, as you say, by Lujie Lesovsky an Emil Diedt (the latter well-known for his creations) and Phil Remington has also been mentioned as being involved, although I don't know if that was in the build process.

I'm going to have to merge this though since it's the same car as the previous puzzle..

Another picture; just because it's nice!:
