According to a search, this vehicle has never graced these webpages. What is it?

That's the one. The Argocat was 8wd. This one is 6wd and skid-steer.

It'll be well-known to USA and UK TV viewers as the transport of The Banana Splits!

Not quite.
Canadian company Ontario Drive and Gear set up a subsidiary of the German company making the Amphicat in 1962 and made the car like the one in your puzzle.  But in 1967 they realised the potential of this kind of vehicle and started to build their own, the Argocat 6x6.  It wasn't until 1971 that they introduced an 8x8 and then in 2006 Argocat introduced their Frontier 6x6 model.

Thanks for that. I should research things more thoroughly. I actually thought that the company was from Michigan and the Canadian factory was making them under licence. Probably reverie on my part  :D
