Based on the windscreen and the wheels I'll ask if it's Bristol 403 based?

Not an MG. There's a relation though...

Is this a homebuilt with a proprietary fibreglass body on mechanicals chosen by the builder?  Say an Ashley body on a Buckler frame with MG sourced oily bits.

It's homebuilt, using mechanical parts from various cars but not MG AFAIK (though there is a relation). Body is home-made and I don't think it's fiberglass (gotta check my source tonight).

The source doesn't mention the body's material but work-in-progress photos suggest the body wasn't made of fiberglass.

It has a Morris engine indeed. Chassis origin is unknown.

The Morris engine is not the only relation with MG...

The plot thickens - does it have something Austin Healey, such as front suspension? But cannot make out those wheels - the holes are too big for Austin Healey/MG.

No Austin Healey parts AFAIK. I don't know where the wheels come from.

To help you a bit : the other relation with MG doesn't involve the car.

It wasn't built in Abingdon, but it wasn't built very far from there.

This car is not easy to find, but its builder is mentioned online several times.

Is the builder someone who wrote books about MG - maybe Wilson McComb?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

No, the relation between the builder and MG is more straightforward.
