A smart way to drive?

For one point, please respond and identify this car.

Yes, it is the Charly, an invalid's carriage built by Auto-Technik Walther (ATW). ATW was also responsible for many French microcars getting their Diesel engines replaced by 50 cc two-stroke engines to comply with German legislation in order to drive them without a car driver's license.

Is it a weatherproof buggy for people with disability?

That's my understanding for it, yes.

Not according to my source

On the original, full-size picture, "Charly" can be clearly read on the bonnet. According to the source it's the "Premium" or "Luxe" version, but on another photo it's called "Plus" so it's quite confusing.

DeAutogids

I don't know what you mean with "original picture", but it seems somebody is taking credit for somebody else's work.

oko94

By "original picture" I mean that I've posted exactly the same picture as you (same car, same color, same angle) but with a much better size and quality, so obviously it's the original picture, whereas the one you've posted has been downsized and (probably) compressed.

Everywhere on the net this car is called "Charly". Even the many people who sell them as used cars on eBay call them "Charly"; why would they sell them as Charlies if they were something else ?

It would seem so. And still, this picture is used in almost the same form on a different manufacturer's site.

You do not look for the Italian company which built the Charly for ATW, don't you?

I do, actually.

Wendax

I can't see that they are marketing the car under their own brand. They are just producing it. You wouldn't call a Jaguar E-Pace a Magna, wouldn't you?

DeAutogids

To be fair, that's true. When I posted it, I wasn't actually aware it was made by them for another company. Assumption, the mother of all...

Wendax

So, how to proceed now?

(Just for the record, the ATW Charly was designed and built by Molicar, with the thermoplastic body parts made by Target.)

DeAutogids

I have both those company names as well. I suppose you solved it then. Molicar was the company I was looking for.
