Was it perhaps a tug to wrangle aeroplanes into specific places on an airport?

It just may be. With the limited sources I have, the most I know is that it was used for Air Force personnel.

Not a bad idea! Considering where this car came from however, it really doesn't seem to fit well.

As Larry confidently demonstrated the vehicle, the crowd didn't seem convinced that a a ride-on lawnmower, electric or not, needed to be quite so large. :o
