SOLVED: Djetset #329 - La Mopi NSU Lancia
« on: April 07, 2010, 01:07:05 PM »
As I haven't had chance to post a new puzzle for a couple months, I thought I should restart with a real brain-teaser!

So, for a whole point, please call me the name of this car, and what engine and body it uses. Have fun!

The bodyshell looks like an NSU 1000.

It is indeed an NSU body with Simca 1000 rear lights.  Any idea what it's called and what engine it might have?

Hey the picture changed. In the past there was a name which is now greyed out.

If you search the license plate in Google you find Stram-Lancia.

If you search for the greyed out word you get:
LA fameuse NSU avec moteur LANCIA s'est appelée soit la STRAM , soit la MOPI

So a NSU with a Lancia engine and Simca light called MOPI

Yes, you've got it.  It is La Mopi, a Lancia Fulvia V4-powered NSU used in French club racing in the early 1970s.

Its part of the ESSO race team I think called a "Stram-Lancia". The base vehicle is of course a NSU Prinz but this one is running a Lancia Fluvià 1600 engine, put where the rear seats were. Cooling was a problem so additional venting was cut into the sides and rear.

From about 1973.

Stram NSU Lancia is correct..The car was modified in 1970 by Pierre Moreau and raced in the Tour de France and the Tour de Corse. It was also called Mopi (Moreau Pierre) with a slightly modified front. The engine was from a Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF. I have also seen Strahm NSU but that's not correct.By the way it may be a repost.
