At high speed.

For one point, please respond and identify car and driver.

Some kind of postwar Eigenbau, I presume?

forget previous question - it's the Brandt-Porsche 1.5 litre built and raced by Rolf Brandt in 1954

It is Porsche-based, but I have a different name and a slightly different year. I can't exclude the possibility that the owner changed, so can you prove your guess?

The Brandt- Porsche is mentioned a couple of times on the Racing Sports car site,  racing in 1954 at Halle and Rostock and driven by Rolf Brandt, - so  I know it exists. I have a photo - source unknown - of this car, labelled the Brandt-Porsche 1.5 litre. I put two and two together .................

there is a further photo of it racing at Nurburgring in 1954 on the fantastic Revs Digital Library - Stanford University site. Search under Brandt-Porsche Special.

You got me totally convinced, which earns you a point.

One more point on offer, if you can tell me who was the driver in the puzzle picture. Locked for you.

I can find Rolf Brandt driving it throughout 1954, previously he seems to have driven a Porsche and one of Richard Trenkel's cars in 1953. The trail however goes cold from 1955 onwards .... until that is, I spotted it, unidentified, in the background of a photo of Tak's Maserati in the 1956 ADAC 1000kms at Nurburgring. (Revs Lib Stanford University again!)
Its number is hard to make out, but I think it is 36. If so, the drivers were Karl Busch and Karl Schwaneburg.  I hope one of them is the driver in your photo.

Note to self .. must get out more.

Karl Busch is correct, another point for you.

No, weather isn't good enough. No veteran cars out there.  ;)
