I couldn't find an exactly similar picture, but it looks to me like the Opel Vectra 4x4 Proto, run by Opel Team Espana in the 1994 Spanish Rallye Championship.

I found quite a number of pictures of a very similar car that looked broadly like the puzzle picture, but none that matched it exactly..

After some more searching that car being described the same as Wendax, I think the point goes to Wendax.

Well, as I said there are quite a few pictures of rallying Vectras on the web, some with very similar markings. But I haven't been able to find one that's exactly the same, so I tend to think del78 posted this one as there is something special about it and I don't think it's just any old 4x4 Vectra. It's certainly not the same car Wendax posted a picture of.

According to what I could find, in 1988 Milton Keynes based Motor Sport Development built two Vectra-based rally cars. Or, to put it in the right way, those were two Vauxhall Cavaliers. One was powered with a normally aspirated 2.0 engine, another with a Saab turbo engine. Maybe this is a Saab-engined Cavalier then?

Then it seems you're right about Spain. Borja Moratal raced a very, very similar car in a very, very similar livery in Spain. Guess it's 1990, judging by the picture name. Still, no ideas about the engine apart from what was specified: 2.0i...

Yes, I can only find it described as a Prototipo Opel Vectra Turbo 4x4. I think the right year is 1991.

this puzzle will be locked for Wendax as he found correct car
this is Opel Vectra 4x4 Turbo Proto build for GM Spain to but for the point I need some more info
- year 1994 is wrong
- who build this prototype

Sydney Meeke - father of Citroen driver Kris - built and ran rally cars for GM Spain in the 1990s. Mainly Astras but could this be one of his ? I know he also built a 4WD Corsa with Spain in mind...
