That is not a regular Mk VI - they had cycle type front wings. It is some sort of special bodied one with all enveloping bodywork.  So, arguably it is a prototype. but it is not the prototype Mk VI.  Is it the car that Gerard 'Jabby' Crombac had?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

Yes I had the same thought and looked in Crombac's book about Chapman, but no photo there - may be something in the text but i'd too little time to hunt it down!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes....I had thought of Crombac too, but couldn't really make the connection.   There's also something in the back of my mind about the Bol d'Or. During the mid fifties there was a move to ban cycle-winged cars from important sports car races.  Could this have been the inspiration for what is undoubtedly a very 'pro' modification of a 'Spindly Six' ?
