Is it the Hooper ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

pnegyesi

no, but I am sure you will find it eventually!

Don't bet on it! To save other AP members the trouble, I've gone through the marques on "a certain site", which were built in Australia, and used the search on AP for the marque names and the builders' names. Nothing. Zip. Nada.

I really don't know where to look next. Maybe one of our Australian members will have access to reference books of an Antipodean bias.

Could it be the Lincoln
Duncan Rollo

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

pnegyesi

no, but thanks for reviving this old puzzle

I've just seen an image of Reg Hunt's "Flying Bedstead" and there are similarities. Any connection?

I don't think so, but thanks for trying

Joass 500, built in 1947-48 by Bob Joass

And just like that we have the solution. Built in Australia

I have no idea why I didn't look at that "certain site". It's so obvious now, but also too late ! Well done.

In March 2014 you told us you had looked - then and now I can't see a Joass reference in their lists. I'm confused.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

I feel like such an outsider now. Any hints as to the identity of this "certain site?" Somehow I doubt you're referring to the source where I found the solution (which contains no list of marques built in Australia).

No links allowed I'm afraid. You have to learn where to look by experience.

1) No problem;
2) I actually asked for a hint, not a link;
3) I highly doubt that 'certain site' refers to a website of which I am not already aware;
4) I think I found 'where to look' in this instance ;) ; and
5) Again, no problem! :)

Sorry if I came across as unhelpful and rude, No offence intended. Happy holidays.

I'm afraid some of us are almost paranoid about our sources - in truth at least 20/30 regular contributors know all the sites which will be of help but we all pretend that we have our "private" knowledge!

You obviously found the answer from what I was referring to as the certain site. There is another which most members would check for 500cc race cars. This is the one which AllanL was referencing. Sorry, can't help with any more  :D
