Even Wikipedia refers to the DB Racer 500 and illustrates it.
Perhaps I should not have accepted my source in good faith and perhaps I should have checked further and found that the photo is in fact of a copy with a larger engine.

Ah Wikipedia.... Masters of misinformation!
I've corrected misinformation on it only to find the following day it's reverted back to the incorrect information..
Too many clever dicks who can all change the info at will, generally for incorrect misinformation!

The point i was making is that a DB Racer 500 is not that obscure if even Wikipedia mention it.  Obviously I would not trust Wikipedia as the source of a puzzle.
On the other hand, I don't think it should be necessary to do a "Search by image" (even if i knew how) of a photo found on an internet site to verify that it is an original car as the poster says, and not a copy.

Thank you very much for the correction of the designation of the car, although "modified copy" would fit better in my mind. And thanks too for all the detailed explanations, how the tricky and wrong answers came about.

Only one detail remained unanswered: why my (incorrect) designation of the vehicle was not honored with an answer and a point, but the later identical following was. A little strange, I would like to say...

Now I think to be out of the game. Thought to know this DB 500 Racer, prepared and serviced by HTT-Motorsport

It is true that the internet is full of misinformation. I'm sure most of the AP regulars know which specialist sites will give accurate information - I have checked the usual F3 site and a 500cc DB is not listed. Just saying.
Which one?  As far as I can see, I responded to all your guesses.

I see.  When you say: "Now I think to be out of the game . . .  you actually mean "I am now making another guess . . ."  Even when followed immediately by 'May be you are searching for the word "monoplace"? '

As you did actually say "DB Racer 500" before Hermanato, I'll give you a point as well.
