What car is this, and which coachbuilder was involved?

sixtee5cuda

Up!

Have the Experts solved this one yet?

LOCKED briefly for barrett.  The coachbuilder is Czech.

Something of a guess - Brozik? The car is a Skoda 1101 Tudor

sixtee5cuda

The coachbuilder is not Brozik, and the car is not a Skoda 1101 Tudor.  Puzzle car differences compared to the Skoda:  vent windows in the front doors, single external door hinge (not 2 like the Skoda), turn signal indicator mounted on B-pillar instead of a pop-out trafficator in the front fender/wing.  If you could see the back, puzzle car does not have external trunk hinges.

I suppose there is a chance, that this coachbuilder modified a Skoda 1101 body and mounted it on the chassis of a different car, but I have not seen this mentioned in print.

Tatra 1946 T57 bodied by Sodomka

The point goes to pguillem for a close-enough answer.

The puzzle car is a 1937 Tatra 57B, which was rebodied by Sodomka in 1947.

Hmmmm....

This is a bit frustrating.

I missed the edit to the posting about new point rankings and thought it was still the 15th May as originally posted, not the 5th May as the edit indicates.

I had this puzzle solved long ago but assumed I had to wait till the 15th or until it hit the Pro section.

I happened on the new date when I saw Barrett post earlier today as an Expert, not a Pro and at 0808 my time it was "locked briefly for him and was not unlocked as far as I can tell.  So, again, I waited until it was unlocked.

Then, my good friend, really, PGuillem pops up with an almost correct answer and gets the point even though I considered the question still locked.

Anyway, here is another photo that I was going to use if I got the chance to answer the quiz.

Sorry. I didn't understand what the "briefly locked" tag meant. Maybe I was too eager, as a born-again Expert to regain the ranks of the Pros...  ::)

sixtee5cuda

No problem, pguillem.  I did the same thing on a Carnut puzzle.

Sorry Bill. I've been a lot confused about the new Pro/Expert definition and I was somewhat surprised to see that I could post again in the Expert section. I wondered about the "briefly locked" message, and as barrett's guess was twice wrong, but leading me to the Czech answer, I thought that the "briefly" was over, forgetting the "locked" part of the message, unfortunately for you.

I just glanced some Japanese sites, finding some jewels.  Thanks for your docs again.  BTW, your AutoPuzzles mailbox is still full.

Absolutely no problem, Patrick, I was merely making observations and you happened to be part of the example.

According to what I see on the screen, I have reduced my "Inbox" from over 200 to 5 and have plenty of capacity.
Please try again so I can see if the deletes worked.

BTW, that stuff I sent you was Chinese, not Japanese, but I have a love for things Japanese too.
