Seems to be at the Crystal Palace circuit so probably taken no later than 1974. Car's about 1904-6 and I'm sure I know what it is really, but agéd rusty memory won't retrieve the data. . .

I hadn't noticed those railway sleepers in the background- I think you could be correct with the venue.

The car is from 1904, and you probably do indeed know what it is, but that doesn't earn a point!

Yes indeed. I don't know the model but I think it could be an 18hp. The car still had the marque's typical mid-mounted engine, but tried to look more modern by using a fake bonnet.

Most of us are familiar with the "other" James & Browne owned by City University (or predecessor institution) and driven by its students on the Brighton Run and even occasionally on the "Miglia Quadrato" night event in the City of London.
 Haven't seen this one for a long time, if ever
