Looking at a few more photos and a recent exhibition at GM's heritage centre, it appears the caption may have been wrong on my original source. There were three 512 prototypes and I've never looked under the bonnet of any of them, but the GM exhibition labelled this as the XP512G Gasoline version.

In fact the registration plate on the vehicle back in 1969 says it's the GM ES512 Gasoline.

Yes indeed.
I have it as the XP512G so that's what I'll stick to for the moment (especially as that what it says on the front registration plate!)
I believe we've already had most of the others...
