I thought that the side view of the front end in your photo showed a fairly prominent grille - so that (and the wheels) led to a quick search of the movie databases about film-featured automobiles, which turned up what's simply called a "custom Mercedes-Benz convertible" in a movie entitled "Santo and Blue Demon against the Monsters" made in 1970. I can't seem to find much more on it than that, although there are other photographs of the car showing a good-sized Mercedes grille - from a 300, perhaps? Never heard of the movie. The rest of the car looks a little crudely put together - maybe just a studio-built movie car?

That's it, yes.  Actually I didn't think the body looked so crude so I thought it might fool a few...!

The film was actually called "Santo el enmascarado de plata y Blue Demon contra los monstruos" which is roughly what you said apart from the 'enmascarado de plata' bit and I haven't checked what that means (the masked Santo?).

Below are other pictures of the car in the film.

Well done.

I think the rest of the film title refers to the "man in the silver mask", but my Spanish is not that great. Apparently this guy "Santo" was quite a popular figure in Latino wrestling history. Beats me. In any case, it's certainly an interesting car. I can't help but wonder if it was actually done by a coachbuilder (Serra, perhaps?), or if, as I said, it was done by the studio? Does anyone know more about it? In any case, another great puzzle where, as usual, the search was more than half the fun!
