Volvo TP21?
This is actually one of the "Red Bull Suggas", created by 360 Fabrications in Vancouver, BC. It's a modified Volvo TP21 "Sugga" body mounted on a Ford F350 chassis.

Volvo TP21?

Well, at least it looks like one of those, but it isn´t.

Hmmmm - well to my best knowledge this creation has some different underpinnings. However I will check this tomorrow...

Maybe the US-version is Ford based and the Euro-version has a different chassis underneith.

After looking into this further, it seems at least some of these were built on LWB Land Rover Defender chassis. Is this what is under the one in your photo?

Exactly!

Do you also know the name of the company that executed that type of Defender conversion?

Sorry, but I do not. From what I can tell, these have been built on both Defender 110 and Chevrolet Blazer chassis by different builders around the world (one source I found said this was being done by Land Rover, but I highly doubt this), but according to Red Bull's website, they are now officially being built by the Canadian builder 360 Fabrications on modified Ford F350 chassis.

No problem. One can clearly identify the Defender front axle and that is what I wanted to know.

So this is your point!

Anybody who could provide some more details about the company that executed this conversion may get an additional point...

Hi Burkhard:

I did not have a chance to answer the puzzle question, but since I own one, maybe I get a point anyway.

I purchased this Sugga in 1972 from the Swedish Government Surplus yard in Göteborg and had it shipped to California where I worked for Volvo at the time.

The photo below shows it being used as a "Chase Car" in the Inaugural Baja 1000 road race in Mexico where my Boss drove a Volvo powered dune buggy in the competition.

The car remained in California when I lived in Sweden, Peru and Canada and I was finally re-united with it in 1982.
I drove it in a few military parades in Connecticut when I worked for SAAB and left it there when I moved to Georgia in
1989.  As far as I know, it still sits on a farm owned by one of my former co-workers there.

Sorry for the poor photo, I have not found the other photos I have of the car and this was the only one on my hard drive.

Bill

Cheers
Bill

Oh wow!
I always loved this car.

My puzzle photo is just one week old, when I saw this strange Frankenstein Sugga version at Scheveningen Beach in the Netherlands.

You should try to find out about your Sugga and if it still exists... ;)

Yes, the Euroversions are Defender-based, the US Red Bull Suggas are significantly wider and Ford-based.

Canadian; not U.S. Gotta give credit where credit's due! :)
