It looks a lot like a 1961 DB Formula Junior, but I know it isn't one. Is it French?

The driveshafts look odd. I'm thinking it's powered by a production engine of some sort.
Was it built for a French National Formula of some kind?

Sorry, I don't know in which formula it took part, as I only have a name and the engine supplier, which was a production car.
