It clearly has some bodywork from a 550, but seems to be front-engined.  It's new one to me.

1956 Sauter Bergspyder KS-11 ex-Heini Walter Sauter Porsche, there is no evidence that this car was built starting from a 550 chassis. What is certain is that the good Sauter/porsche relation helped him to obtain an ex-factory Fuhrmann 547 engine (90022)
The car that exist to day has nothing to do with the original car that was destroyed by Heini Walter early 1957 (some historian say during the Avus Sport cars race other say during the Usanne/Les Rangiers hillclimb race

That's the one of course.
I note what you say about there being no evidence that the original car was 550-based. 
All the photos of the car as it is today are captioned "Sauter-Porsche 550 Bergspyder" however, so I put 2 and 2 together..!
