This project was funded by the US Department of Energy in 1975-76 under a $265,000 contract awarded to Chrysler, General Electric, EBS and Triad Services Inc. (a design company) with the prototype as pictured below revealed in 1976.  The full name of the car is the DOE Chrysler GE Triad!
