This is a bit too simple, so probably wrong.  Rust #3 is a Holka-DKW F8, built in Switzerland. Rest #18 is an alpine pass in Switzerland (?). I can't believe it's that easy, though.
Right combination and right idea for the connection, but you have to be more precise. It is not just an alpine pass.

The St Gotthard pass.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I try but I actually feel like barking to the moon....Is number 13 a Favel electric?  If yes, could it match with a Brasilian Favel-as (7) ?

Getting closer, now where is the strong connection to the Holka-DKW? Locked for you.

Almost, but good enough. Rust 20 is a KVS Mini alright, and Rest 20 is a Floirat bus purchased by the KVS company. KVS stands for Kraftverkehr Saarlouis in Germany, but French administered Saar Protectorate back then. The bus type was called Mulhouse, because the first one was sold to Mulhouse in Alsace.

One more to go.

Well Rust 17 is a Eurocco and Rest 17 is some kind of Scirocco but I haven't been able to find a connection.
Was the modified Scirocco also called a Eurocco?  It looks like something Treser might have come up with to me...

Carnut has positively identified Rust 17 as an Eurocco. The remaining Rest is in fact Rest 24 ( ;)), which is a modified VW Scirocco. Its name is not Eurocco, and it's not by Treser. Find it and the point will be yours. Locked for one try.

Sorry, not sure why I put Rest 17; I'm in Finland on business and was in a bit of a hurry when I wrote it!
Fortunately it's a night off for me so I've been able to waste 2 hours Googling for this damn Scirocco Mk2, but at least I got a hit when I found a Wambach Rocco, the guilty party living in Wendax's home town of Hamburg!
Googling for more pictures finds the puzzle picture, which seems to be called the Wambach Rocco Sport Targa, but I'm not sure whether it was a slightly different model or one that some enterprising individual has ruined further with modified wheel-arches etc.
The 'factory' Wambach version is pictured below.

That puts a nice end to this group puzzle without "super pros".  :D

The totals are:
Djetset: 6 points
ropat53: 5 points
luisps: 4 points
targhediferro: 4 points
nicanary: 3 points
Carnut: 2 points

As always, I had my fun creating this puzzle and seeing it solved. Well done, gentlemen!

Time for me to start collecting new rust.  ;)
